Grant Recepients

Congratulations to Ms. Webb and Mrs. Foy for receiving grants from the Talladega City Schools Foundation. We are so thankful to the Foundation and these teachers for helping to provide more opportunities for Ellis students!

"Induction into the National Junior BETA club is recognition of personal effort and achievement. I wanted my members to be exposed to other high-achieving students across the state of Alabama so that they would not be satisfied with just being a member, but being an active member in their school and communities. The convention challenged all members to achieve even greater success in their educational endeavors and exposed them to a range of talented and highly-driven individuals their same ages. I wrote the grant because my students returned from the convention in Huntsville motivated to compete next year. I wanted to encourage that enthusiasm and remind them that the sky is the limit if they were willing to put in the time and effort needed to achieve their goals of placing next year at Convention!"
Ms. Webb

"I wrote a grant to purchase a leveled library. This system will motivate 300+ students to develop their reading and comprehension skills because the readers are designed for various reading levels. This library emphasizes differentiated instruction because it provides texts in many content areas such as science, math, social studies, art, music, as well as reading. It is important to have books at an instructional level that strategically address the target skills, ideally have related teaching support, and are of interest to students."

April Student of the Month

April-- Dekorria P.
I think I was selected "Student of the Month" because I am honest and very trustworthy. I am also dependable and helpful. My way of giving back to my school is assisting the teachers in any way possible. In the future, I hope to attend Alabama A&M University. After college, I want to become a pediatrician or either a lawyer. These qualities will lead me to an even brighter future.
