Elementary Schools Visit Ellis

All five elementary schools' 6th grade classes had the opportunity to tour Ellis this week. They were led by selected 8th graders to visit classes and facilities and were also introduced to many teachers and staff members. Their visit follows last week's visit by Ellis students to each elementary school. Please click the links below to see the posts on their blogs about our visit.

  • James P.--Band
  • Erin B.--Cheerleading
  • Caleb J.--Builder's Club

  • Alexis M.--Honor Society
  • Destiny L.--Gifted Program

State Champions and Silver Medalists: Ellis Emeralds!

Congratulations to the Ellis Emeralds!  They recently traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, where they attended the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit Championships.  While there, they represented our school with pride and enthusiasm as they performed for a very large crowd.  Their outstanding performance paid off as they were named 2011 Alabama State Champions for the Cadet Classification and 2011 SCGC Silver Medalists.

We are very proud of these young ladies!  They are pictured above with their sister groups, the Dega Darlins of Talladega High School and the Dega Darlins Addition of Talladega High School (JV).   The Dega Darlins received the Bronze Medal in Scholastic AA Classification, and the Dega Addition were named 2011 Alabama State Champions in the Novice Classification as well as received the Silver Medal.

Cancer Awareness Fundraisers and Events

In and effort to raise funds for Cancer Awareness, we have two fundraisers planned. We will have a cupcake sale April 20th during 6th period. Students will be allowed to purchase a cupcake for 50 cents. Also, as a fundraiser, April 29th is "Purple Shirt and Jean Day."  When a student makes a $2.00 donation, they will be allowed to wear a purple shirt and jeans to school. We encourage everyone to support this worthwhile cause.

New Look in Lunchroom

Our lunchroom has a beautiful new mural thanks to the artwork of Mrs. Melissa Webb. She is a 2009 graduate of Talladega College. She was the first to graduate from Talladega College with a degree in Fine Arts.  She was commissioned to paint a mural in the Ellis lunchroom. Her mural displays tigers surrounding the food pyramid.  The message reads: "Healthy Tigers are Super Stars."
